UCF Baseball at FGCU Postponed Due to Weather

April 14, 2009

FORT MYERS, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF baseball team and Florida Gulf Coast got into the bottom of the first before a heavy thunderstorm in Fort Myers moved in and forced the two clubs to postpone the game Tuesday. A makeup date has not been announced.

After the contest started at 6:02 p.m., the Knights and Eagles played 10 minutes before the rain hit. They waited until a little after 7 p.m. before the umpires came out and agreed to call it. UCF got a baserunner in the top of the first when junior Shane Brown was hit by a pitch, while FGCU got its leadoff hitter aboard on a two-base error. That was when lightning was spotted over the center field fence and the tarp was rolled out.

UCF and FGCU now head to Orlando to finish off the home-and-home series with a 6:30 p.m. matchup Wednesday at Jay Bergman Field.

Baseball flex pack voucher packages as well as single game tickets are on sale for the 2009 campaign. Call the UCF Ticket Office at (407) 823-1000 for more information.
