UCF Men's Basketball Top 40 - Cory Perry

Jan. 29, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - In UCF history, only two players have led the Knights in assists in each of their four seasons at the school. Cory Perry, who played under head coach Kirk Speraw from 1996-00, was one of the individuals.

During his time in Orlando, Perry registered impressive assist numbers and also proved that he was a solid defender. He played in 115-consecutive games while with the Knights.

A native of Louisville, Ky., Perry recorded 512 assists during his career, good for second all-time at UCF.

As a freshman in 1998-99, he started 26 contests and dished out 146 assists. Perry had his top scoring year as a senior, when he averaged 8.0 points to go with 4.3 assists.

Perry had the benefit of playing with several impressive scorers, including Paul Reed, D'Quarius Stewart and Jason Thornton. Reed and Stewart both scored over 1,000 points while at UCF, and Thornton is the program's all-time leader in 3-point field goals.

Sinua Phillips is the only other Knight to have paced the team in assists four times.

On the defensive end, Perry totaled 205 steals. That number also ranks second in school history. As a senior, he recorded 64 swipes.

Speraw's 2008-09 squad is slated to return to action Saturday at Tulane. UCF's next home contest is set for Wednesday against Houston at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
