UCF's Bacher Selected as a Jewish Sports Review All-American.

Jan. 22, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's soccer sophomore Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) has been named to the 2008 Jewish Sports Review All-America First-Team, the publication announced in its January/February 2009 issue. Bacher was one of three midfielders named to the 12-member first-team.

A transfer from Longwood, Bacher had a tremendous first season in a UCF uniform. With two goals and three assists, he was second on the Knights in scoring with seven points. The sophomore was named to the Conference USA All-Tournament team after helping UCF defeat Memphis 1-0 as UCF advanced to the semifinals for the first time since joining the league.

He was also named to the all-tournament team at the Old Dominion STIHL Soccer Classic on Sept. 12-14. Bacher also tallied a game-winning goal in a C-USA victory against UAB on Oct. 22, and led UCF this season in shots with 44 and shots on goal with 19.

One of the nation's youngest teams, UCF finished the 2008 season at 7-11-1 overall and 3-4-1 in C-USA play, finishing in a tie for third.
