UCF Men's Basketball Top 40 - Darryl Davis

Dec. 25, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Darryl Davis knew how to fill up the stat sheet. A four-year starter for the Knights from 1991-95, he is one of only three UCF players to have recorded at least 1,500 points and 500 rebounds.

A member of the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame, Davis finished his career with 1,540 points (fifth all-time at UCF) and 583 boards (seventh). He made 583 field goals during his time in Orlando, which also ranks fifth on the school's all-time register.

Davis averaged 13.6 points as a Knight. As a sophomore in 1992-93, he averaged a career-high 17.2 points. Davis played for head coach Kirk Speraw during his final two seasons at UCF.

In 1993-94, which served as Speraw's first campaign in Orlando, Davis led the Knights to the NCAA Tournament for the first time at the Division I level. The former Tavares High School star averaged 12.5 points and 5.2 rebounds that season. Against Purdue in the first round of the tournament, he totaled 10 points, five rebounds and dished out five assists.

In 2008, Davis entered the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame. His cousin, Jermaine Taylor, is currently a star for the Knights.

Taylor and the Knights are slated to return to action Monday, hosting Penn at the UCF Arena. The game is part of the UCF Holiday Classic.
