UCF Fastbreak - Nov. 9

Nov. 9, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After dozens of UCF victories in the last three years, radio play-by-play voice Marc Daniels would chat on air with Mike O'Donnell about the Knights' performance. The point guard had no trouble offering insight into the team.

With his playing career now over, O'Donnell will be joining Daniels on a more formal basis. This season, O'Donnell will be serving as the color analyst on all home radio broadcasts. All UCF contests are aired live on the UCF ISP Sports Network and its flagship station, 740 AM in Orlando.

O'Donnell concluded his collegiate career last spring. In three seasons at UCF after transferring from NC State, he started 89 contests. He finished his time with the Knights among the school's career leaders in several categories, including 3-point field goals (195-2nd) and assists (319-5th). In 2007-08, the Largo, Fla., native averaged 11.9 points and hit 75 triples.

Currently, O'Donnell is serving as a graduate assistant in the UCF Golden Knights Club office while pursuing a master's degree. According to Daniels, listeners will benefit from O'Donnell's insight during games.

"Mike was one of the best players to ever suit up for the Knights. No one knows more about college basketball and especially UCF basketball than Mike. I think that he will add an insider element to our broadcasts," Daniels said.

O'Donnell will make his broadcast debut on Tuesday evening. UCF's exhibition contest against Flagler at the UCF Arena will feature an Internet-only video broadcast that will utilize Daniels' and O'Donnell's audio. The broadcast will be available on UCFAthletics.com.

O'Donnell is looking forward to making his on air debut.

"I have always been interested in broadcasting and I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with Marc," he said. "I hope to provide fans with a different perspective during the games."

Admission is free for Tuesday's game, which is set to tipoff at 7 p.m.
