Nov. 6, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After claiming the title at The Hummingbird Intercollegiate in North Carolina earlier in the week, the UCF men's golf team has entered the top-30 nationally. Head coach Nick Clinard's Knights are ranked 29th in the latest Golfstat Head-to-Head Standings.

On Tuesday, UCF won the team title in its final tournament of the fall campaign. Senior David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla.) finished second at 8-under 134. Redshirt freshman Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) and junior Simon Ward (County Monagahn, Ireland) also placed in the top five for the Knights.

The tournament championship was the first of the year for the Knights. In 2007-08, the squad won a pair of events. UCF has recorded two top-five showings this fall.

The team is scheduled to begin the spring season on Feb. 14 at the Gator Invitational in Gainesville.
