ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For weeks, the Knights have been working hard outside of the public spotlight, getting ready for the 2008-09 campaign. On Saturday evening, members of the team will finally have the opportunity to compete in front of a crowd at the inaugural UCF Postgame Madness.
The free event at the UCF Arena includes a chance for fans to select their season ticket seat location, an intra-squad scrimmage and autograph session. Postgame madness is scheduled to start shortly after the conclusion of the UCF-Southern Miss Homecoming football game at Bright House Networks Stadium.
The Knights, who officially began practice in mid-October, are looking forward to performing in front of their fans.
"We are excited about it," sophomore guard Taylor Young (Orlando, Fla.) said. "We are preparing this week to get out in front of the public on Saturday. It will show the fans what we are going to be about this season."
One of the key aspects of the event involves targeting football fans to buy basketball season tickets. Young believes that is a great marketing strategy. The Knights and head coach Kirk Speraw will be recognized on the field during the football game and signs throughout the stadium will remind fans about the postgame madness event.
"We'll be getting some great publicity at the football game," Young said.
Young and the Knights are slated to open the regular season at home on Nov. 16 against North Carolina A&T. Season tickets are currently available.
