UCF Fastbreak - Nov. 1

Nov. 1, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Filming UCF practices was never easy for team managers. The chore started with lugging a camera and tripod to the session. The task ended hours later with film breakdown.

Thanks to the new technology located inside the program's new practice facility, filming practice is no longer a challenge.

A permanent camera is located on the wall at center court. The rotating camera captures all that is occurring on the court and instantly transmits the picture back to a film room next to the coaching staff's offices.

During practices, Todd Lewiston, the team's video coordinator, breaks down and organizes footage. Thanks to the new setup, head coach Kirk Speraw and his assistants can immediately watch film following the conclusion of practice. Each practice is archived on a DVD.

No one is more pleased about the ease of the new video system than the team's managers.

"The new system really makes it easier for the managers. I know they really enjoy the new technology that we now get to utilize. It really helps the staff save time and analyze film in a better way as well," director of basketball operations Micah Byars said.

UCF's season opener is set for Nov. 16 at home against North Carolina A&T. The squad is set to play 16 contests at the UCF Arena this year, including a Jan. 10 Conference USA tilt with national power Memphis.
