Knights to Conclude Fall Campaign in North Carolina

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's golf team will conclude its fall campaign starting Monday when the Knights compete at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in Cashiers, N.C. The two-day, 54-hole event at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley will conclude Tuesday.

Head coach Nick Clinard's Knights will be returning to action after tying for 11th at the nation's premier tournament, the Isleworth-UCF Collegiate Invitational, Tuesday. UCF posted an impressive 8-over 296 in the final round. The event featured seven of the top 10 teams in the country.

According to the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, the Knights the nation's sixth-toughest schedule.

Clinard will utilize the same lineup he used last week for the tournament in North Carolina. Seniors Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla.) and David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla.), junior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland), redshirt freshman Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) and freshman Blayne Barber (Lake City, Fla.) will all be in action for the Knights. Forest was UCF's top finisher at Isleworth. He tied for 28th.

Junior Devin Spies (Sarasota, Fla.) is slated to compete at the tournament as an individual. A transfer from Brevard Community College, Spies will be making his UCF debut.

The Hummingbird Intercollegiate is hosted by Western Carolina. Other squads in the field include Gardner-Webb, High Point, Winthrop and Wofford.

After concluding the fall schedule, the Knights will take over three months off before playing in the Gator Invitational in Gainesville in mid-February.
