ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - During his two campaigns with the Knights, Chuck Roberts was never a star. Instead, the 6-foot-9 center was a valuable role player who made his greatest contributions on the defensive end.
Roberts played under head coach Kirk Speraw from 1993-95. Because Roberts played alongside Darryl Davis and Ochiel Swaby, two of the better offensive players in program history, he did not need to score in order for the Knights to be successful.
After transferring from South Florida Community College, the Plant City native helped the Knights to the 1994 NCAA Tournament. He appeared in 29 games as a reserve that season.
The following year, Roberts made 11 starts. He blocked 38 shots as a senior, good for 10th on the school's single-season swats list. Roberts also averaged 5.8 boards during the year.
Season tickets for UCF's 2008-09 campaign are currently available. Head coach Kirk Speraw's Knights are slated to open the year on Nov. 16, hosting North Carolina A&T. The squad will play 16 games at the new UCF Arena, including a C-USA contest with national runner-up Memphis. For more information about season tickets and premium seating options, contact the UCF ticket sales office at (407) UCF-1000.

The 2008-09 campaign will mark the UCF men's basketball program's 40th season. To commemorate the anniversary, UCF is unveiling the top-40 players in school history. Members of the UCF athletics communications office worked with UCF basketball historian Bill Beekman to select the best players who finished their collegiate careers as Knights. One player from the list will be recognized each Thursday at UCFAthletics.com.
