ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Taking a break from a heated race in Conference USA, the UCF men's soccer team will welcome 11th-ranked USF to campus Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game. The Knights enter the contest with a 6-5-0 record while the Bulls have a 7-2-2 mark.
"It is another great opportunity to play a nationally-ranked non-conference opponent," said UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham. "USF has a lot of talented, experienced players. We will need to stay disciplined and play the entirety of the game."
Both teams come into the game after impressive victories on their respective home fields. UCF enters just three days removed from a 1-0 victory over visiting UAB Saturday night. Sophomore Yaron Bacher (Atlanta, Ga.) tallied his first goal in a UCF uniform for the game's lone marker.
After suffering just their second loss of the season at DePaul last Tuesday, the Bulls bounced back in a big way at home on Friday, defeating eighth-ranked Louisville 1-0 in overtime.
Freshman Kevan George (Decatur, Ga.) tallied his first assist of the season on Bacher's score on Saturday. George leads the team with four goals and nine points while Bacher has a team-leading three helpers.
Sophomore goalkeeper Sean Johnson (Lilburn, Ga.) posted his fourth shutout of the season against UAB. Johnson now has six shutouts in 29 career games. He leads C-USA in saves this season with 59.
Zak Boggs leads USF in goals with three this season while Jordan Seabrook has a team-high eight points on two goals and four assists.
The Bulls have their defense to thank for most of their impressive record. The 7-2-2 record comes despite scoring just 12 goals in 11 games. Sophomore keeper Jeff Attinella is 6-1-1 on the season with five shutouts and a 0.36 goals against average. USF has allowed just one goal in its last six games.
USF leads the all-time series with the Knights 18-3-4, including a 5-2 victory last season on Aug. 31, 2007, in Tampa.
