ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team concludes its fall schedule last Friday with a doubleheader sweep versus visiting Seminole Community College, winning the first game 5-0, before defeating Seminole 9-1 in five innings in the nightcap at the UCF Softball Complex. The pair of victories gave the Knights a 5-0-1 record for the fall season after going 3-0-1 during the UCF Fall Tournament.

Six different Knights posted at least one hit in the opening contest, with senior Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif.) registering a double and a RBI and junior Hillary Barrow (Miami, Fla.) adding a two-RBI single in the third inning. Newcomers Olivia Alvarez (Miami, Fla.) and Vanessa Perez (San Diego, Calif.) each posted a hit and a RBI in the shutout, while Natalie Land (Mayo, Fla.) scored two of the Knights' five runs.

In the nightcap, sophomore Abby McClain (Waterloo, Iowa) paced UCF right from the start. Land reached base after getting hit by a pitch and moved to second on a single from Tiffany Lane (Moreno Valley, Calif.). A bunt single put Javier on base and a single off the bat of Alvarez brought in the first run of the game. But McClain gave the Knights a four-run cushion with a three-run home run to left centerfield.

McClain knocked in another run in the third inning with an opposite-field double to right. Prior to McClain's double, Lane posted a hit and moved to third on a throwing error, before Alvarez hit her second single of the game to score Lane.

Three more runs would touch home for the Black and Gold in the fourth inning, with Morgan Bullard (Columbia, S.C.) reaching on an error, before Land and Lane hit back-to-back triples to put two runs on the board. A RBI grounder to second base from Javier would score Lane and give the home team a 9-0 lead.

Seminole would score one run in the top of the fifth inning, but due to the eight-run mercy rule, the Knights clinched the win after only five innings.
