ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The inaugural campaign for the UCF men's basketball team at the new UCF Arena a year ago included big-time opponents, dazzling dunks, critical 3-pointers and the best crowd support in Conference USA. With the Knights' 2008-09 campaign almost here, new season ticket orders and renewals are currently being accepted by the UCF ticket sales office at (407) UCF-1000.
The Knights will play 16 home contests at the state-of-the-art new UCF Arena in 2008-09. In league play, UCF will have eight games at home, including a matchup with national runner-up Memphis. The non-conference slate is highlighted by a visit from cross-state foe USF. The two schools have not met in Orlando since the 2001-02 campaign.
Head coach Kirk Speraw's Knights are led by one of the nation's top players in senior guard Jermaine Taylor. The C-USA Player of the Year candidate averaged 20.8 points last season, establishing a school single-season Division I record with 646 points.
Fans looking to learn more about the arena's premium seating options, including club seats, courtside tables and suites, should contact the UCF ticket sales office.
Last season, the Knights won 12 contests at home. UCF set numerous attendance records during the campaign as the school's supporters helped create a true homecourt advantage for the Knights.
The 2008-09 campaign will serve as Speraw's 16th year at UCF. One of the longest-tenured head coaches in the country, Speraw has guided the Knights to the NCAA Tournament on four occasions. Dating back to the start of the 2002-03 season, UCF has won 122 games, good for 49th nationally during that span.
UCF's complete schedule will be announced soon. Single-game tickets are slated to go on sale in the fall.
