Allen is currently playing for the Bethesda Big Train in the eight-team wood-bat league. He has made seven starts in eight appearances, posting a 3-3 record with a 4.00 earned-run average. The righty ranks third in the league with 48 strikeouts.
In his first year at UCF, Allen tied a team-high with 21 appearances and owned a 2-1 record with a 4.58 ERA. He finished the season by racking up a 3.8 strikeout-to-walk ratio with opposing hitters batting just .222.
Allen became the sixth UCF player to be honored with a spot on a summer league all-star team. Earlier, infielder Josh Siebenaler and pitchers Evan Stobbs and Brennan Dobbins were picked for the Florida Collegiate Summer League squad, and infielders Chris Duffy and Shane Brown were tabbed for the Clark Griffith League All-Star Team.
