ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - While at UCF, Victor Saxton was listed at 6-foot-4. The forward played bigger than his size as he posted two impressive campaigns for the Knights.
A transfer from Southern Union Junior College in Alabama, Saxton averaged 16.2 points and 5.7 rebounds during his two years in Orlando.
Saxton had good scoring skills, which he immediately exhibited at UCF. In his first campaign at the school in 1992-93, the Rome, Ga., native averaged 17.2 points and shot 57.1 percent from the floor. He scored in double-figures 24 times as a junior.
The following season with first-year head coach Kirk Speraw in charge of the Knights, Saxton was a key component as UCF went 21-9 overall, claimed the Atlantic Sun Championship crown and earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for the first time at the Division I level. A second-team all-league selection, Saxton averaged 15.3 points as a senior.
In the A-Sun Championship title game, he led the Knights with 17 points against Stetson. For his efforts, he garnered league championship MVP honors. Saxton was also the squad's top scorer at the NCAA Tournament. He totaled 16 points and a team-high eight boards versus Purdue.
Season tickets for UCF's 2008-09 home campaign at the new UCF Arena are scheduled to go on sale during the month of July.
