Kirk Speraw to Appear on ESPN Radio 1080

June 26, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's basketball head coach Kirk Speraw will be a guest on the Brady Ackerman Show with Jerry O'Neill on Thursday afternoon on ESPN Radio 1080 in Orlando. Speraw will appear on the program around 4:30 p.m. to discuss tonight's National Basketball Association Draft.

Kansas State forward Michael Beasley and Memphis guard Derrick Rose are expected to be the top picks in the draft. During the 2007-08 campaign, only four teams in the country faced both of the freshmen stars. UCF was one of those squads.

The Knights met Beasley and No. 18 Kansas State in November at the Old Spice Classic in Lake Buena Vista. Speraw's team traveled to No. 1 Memphis for a Conference USA contest in February.

UCF faced the toughest schedule in school history during the 2007-08 campaign. Ten of UCF's opponents were selected to play in the postseason, with four participating in the NCAA Tournament.

Speraw is entering his 16th campaign at UCF. He is one of the most tenured coaches in the country and has led the Knights to 122 victories in the last six seasons, a mark that ranks 49th nationally during that span.
