ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - With summer looming in the near future and the UCF baseball season completed, several former Knights are busy spending time in the minors. One of those players, Clay Timpner, got the call to the majors earlier this year and saw time in two games with the San Francisco Giants in early April.
Timpner has since rejoined the Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies, and the outfielder is batting .257 with 24 RBI and seven steals. Also at the plate, catcher Drew Butera is suiting up for the Double-A New Britain Rock Cats, and outfielder Dee Brown is competing for the Class-A Potomac Nationals.
On the hill, Bo Hall reached Triple-A in the New York Yankees organization and had a 1-0 record with a 3.00 ERA in three games for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. At the Double-A level, Hall was 0-2 with a 2.51 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 14.1 innings of relief. Tim Bascom, meanwhile, owns a 1-1 record and a 4.35 ERA for the Class-A Frederick Keys. And battling injuries, Justin Pope did not give up a run in 5.0 innings for the Double-A Reading Phillies before being sidelined, and Matt Fox is recovering from the injury bug and has a 2-1 mark with a 5.13 ERA and 27 strikeouts for the Class-A Fort Myers Miracle.
