ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - This weekend, the 17th-ranked UCF men's golf team will head to Texas to participate in the Morris Williams Intercollegiate. The two-day event begins Monday at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.
The tournament features 15 teams. The squads will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude the event with a round on Tuesday.
Six of the teams in the field are ranked in the top 25 in the Golfstat NCAA Head-to-Head Rankings. Alabama is the top-ranked team, followed by Oklahoma State (5), Auburn (14), the Knights (17), Louisville (19) and UNLV (20). Host Texas, BYU, Fresno State, New Mexico, Pepperdine, TCU, Texas Tech, Tulsa and San Diego are also competing at the event.
UCF's lineup in Texas will consist of senior Giwon Suh (Orlando, Fla./Olympia), juniors Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla./Martin County) and David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla./Melbourne) and sophomores Nico Donaldson (Windermere, Fla./Olympia and Mike Stern (Miami, Fla./Killian).
Forest seventh in the individual standings in UCF's last event, as the Knights placed eighth at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational in South Carolina on March 25.
UCF is prevalent in two other polls, logging in at 20th in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and 24th in the Golf World/Nike Top 25.
After competing at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate, UCF will participate in the UK Bluegrass Invitational in Kentucky next week.
