ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF men's soccer team announced its annual team awards at the school's All-Sports Banquet in the UCF Arena on April 14.
Rising senior Ryan Roushandel (Atlanta) was named the team's Most Valuable Player and UCF's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The awards honor a season in which Roushandel was named to the All-Conference USA Second Team and the league's All-Academic Team. He finished the year as the team's leading goal scorer with eight. Three of his eight goals were game-winners and he had a season-high two goals in a single game on two occasions.
Rising sophomore goalkeeper Sean Johnson (Lilburn, Ga.) was named UCF's Newcomer of the Year. As a freshman, he started every game in goal, logging 1,668 minutes in that role. He posted 83 saves, which ranks 11th on UCF's all-time single season list.
Sophomore Kamal Cudjoe (Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.) earned the Coaches' Award for his invaluable contributions on and off the field and his strong work-ethic.
"I am pleased with the outstanding contributions these young men have made both on and off the field," UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham said. "They are very deserving of each of these awards and we are proud of what each of them have accomplished this past season."
UCF soccer players are currently in the midst of taking final examinations before some head home for the summer. The 2008 UCF soccer schedule will be released later in the summer.
