UCF Women's Golf Places Four on All-Conference USA Teams

April 17, 2008

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team had four of its members named to the All-Conference USA teams released by league officials on Thursday. The four all-conference honorees are the most since the 2001 team had four players named to the Atlantic Sun All-Conference teams.

"This is a great achievement for our team," head coach Emilee Klein said. "They all played really solid golf all year and their hard work is beginning to show up in other areas. It is nice to see that the league coaches noticed their accomplishments on the course."

Junior May Tomimbang (Kissimmee, Fla.) was named to the first team after leading the team with a 75.81 stroke average. Tomimbang had her best finish of the season, tying for 14th at the C-USA Championship on April 14-16. She is the first Knight since Federica Piovano in 2002 to earn all-conference first team honors. Piovano earned All-Atlantic Sun first team honors and was named the A-Sun Freshman of the Year.

Junior Stephanie Connelly (Pasadena, Md.) and freshman Jessy Tang (Miami, Fla.) both earned a spot on the all-league second team. For Connelly, it is the second-consecutive year she earned all-league honors after being named to the third-team in 2007.

Tang was the top finisher for the Knights at the C-USA Championship, tying for 11th, which was also her highest finish of the season. She led the team with a trio of top-20 finishes on the campaign.

Sophomore Leigh Crosby (Athens, Ga.) was named third team All-C-USA. She tied for 19th at the league championship and had her best finish of the season in Puerto Rico where she tied for 15th after posting a pair of rounds under par.
