El Paso, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team will enter the final round of the Texas Roadhouse Conference USA Championship in third place after posting a team score of 314 (+26) on Monday. The Knights were led by junior May Tomimbang (Kissimmee, Fla.), who fired her second-consecutive 77 (+5) on the Butterfield Trail Golf Club course.
Freshman Jessy Tang (Miami, Fla.) and Leigh Crosby (Athens, Ga.) each posted 78's during second-round play on the 6,294-yard layout to remain in the top 20 of the individual standings. Tang is the top Knight through two rounds with a 36-hole total of 152 (+8). She is tied for eighth, while Tomimbang is tied for 14th with a two-round total of 154 (+10). Crosby is tied for 16th at 155 (+11).
Tulsa moved up from fifth to the top of the standings after round two with the best team round of the tournament. The Golden Hurricane combined for a 297 (+9) on Monday and have a two-day total of 601 (+25). East Carolina is second, seven shots off the pace set by Tulsa at 608 (+32).
The Knights are nine strokes behind the Pirates and hold a slim one-shot lead on SMU, who is in fourth place with a two-day total of 618 (+42). East Carolina's Abby Bools and Tulsa's Woeri Shin lead the individual standings with a total of 147 (+3) through two rounds.
Freshman Katie Detlefsen and junior Stephanie Connelly are tied for 26th in the standings with 36-hole totals of 158 (+14). Detlefsen carded an 81 (+9), while Connelly shot an 83 (+11) in second-round play.
UCF has tied for third in this event the previous two seasons.
Final round action of the tournament is set for Wednesday. Live scoring for the three-day event will be available on www.golfstat.com.
