UCF Sports Today Preview

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - As the regular season nears its completion for the Knights, another edition of UCF Sports Today with Kirk Speraw is set to air this Wednesday on Sun Sports. The program begins statewide at 5 p.m.

This week's episode includes a feature story on senior center Stanley Billings (Orlando, Fla.), who took a unique path to Division I basketball. Billings did not play organized basketball in high school. He started playing the game while in the Marines.

He spent eight years in the service and was stationed at several bases in the United States and also served in Cuba, Japan, Germany, Kuwait and Iraq. This season, Billings has made 21 starts for the Knights and is averaging 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds.

The show will also include highlights of the Knights' Conference USA victories over Tulane and Rice at the new UCF Arena. UCF is 16-12 overall and 9-5 in league play, good for fourth in the conference.

Speraw and host Marc Daniels will preview UCF's contest at Houston on Wednesday. The Cougars are a game ahead of the Knights in the C-USA standings.

The top-four teams in the league receive a first-round bye at the C-USA Championship.

UCF Sports Today with Kirk Speraw is produced by the UCF video services staff. Episodes are also available at www.ucfathletics.com as part of the UCF Knights All-Access package.
