ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - On Friday afternoon, the UCF men's tennis team crushed Louisiana Lafayette, 7-0, at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights won in straight-sets at four singles courts, improving their overall mark to 9-7, while the Ragin' Cajuns fell to 5-7.

UCF also bettered its home record to 5-2.

"We were inconsistent, but resilient in our doubles play," said UCF head coach Bobby Cashman. "The guys continued to fight for one another and make plays. It was a complete team effort. We had relentless pressure in singles play. "

"Once again, we had terrific fan support and I know our team really appreciates it."

After the Ragin' Cajuns' Stefan Hawkins and Murilo Martins took a win at court one, the Knights would battle back.

At No. 2, junior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze) and sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) defeated Arlen Domoney and Jorge Delgado, 9-7.

Senior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) and freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) clinched the doubles point for the Knights, also with a 9-7 victory.

Sudas continued his hot play into singles action, winning his first set, 6-3, in less than 30 minutes against No. 84 Piotrek Banas. After dropping the second set, 6-1, Sudas came back to win the supertiebreaker, 10-7.

Senior Nikolas Overkemping (Bonn, Germany) earned his first victory as a Knight, cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 against Janusz Conradi.

Freshman Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla./Washington) earned the Knights' second point of the day, prevailing at No. 6, 6-1, 6-4, against Martins.

Romano increased his winning-streak to nine, taking a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 5 against Delgado. Romano is a 9-0 at court five and leads the team with 11 singles victories.

Sakey clinched the match for UCF at No. 4 by knocking off Domoney, 6-1, 6-3.

The victory served as UCF's first in program history against Louisiana Lafayette.

The Knights travel to Tampa on Sunday for a showdown with No. 36 South Florida. Last year, UCF took a 4-3 win at the UCF Tennis Complex.

First serve at USF Varsity Tennis Courts is set for noon.
