Orlando. Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Senior hurler Allison Kime (Brandon, Fla.) pitched her fourth-career no-hitter, while earning her eighth-consecutive victory to lead the UCF softball team to a 3-0 win over Florida Atlantic Tuesday night at the FAU Softball Complex. With the win, the Knights improve to 26-14 on the season and extend their winning streak to eight games.
Kime (15-7) fell one play short of a perfect game, allowing only one runner to reach base the entire contest. A throwing error in the fourth inning allowed the Owls' lead-off hitter Jessica Myers to reach second base.
The hurler had the Owls' number all night, striking out 10 batters, including six of the first eight she faced.
Tiffany Lane (Moreno Valley, Calif.) posted a single, a run, a RBI, a walk and two sacrifice hits to contribute to the Black and Gold offense.
After five innings of scoreless softball, UCF plated a run in the sixth inning, with Lane reaching base on a walk and Barrow knocking her in from first with a booming double off the centerfield wall.
UCF added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to RBI singles by both Council and Lane. Kime led off the inning with a single up the middle, before Cat Snapp (Niceville, Fla.) reached on a fielder's choice, with Kime reaching second safely on the play. A ball past the catcher moved the runners to second and third before back-to-back singles from Council and Lane gave the Knights a three-run advantage and put the game out of reach for FAU.
The Knights next travel to Miami, Fla., Wednesday for a non-conference match-up with Florida International at 5 p.m.
