Bergman, Houck, Hudson to be Honored Before Wednesday's Game

March 18, 2008

ORLANDO - Jay Bergman, Mitch Houck and Austin Hudson will always remember the events of March 17, as Bergman picked up his 1,200th career coaching win while Houck and Hudson combined to no-hit Wagner in a 6-0 victory. UCF will honor their efforts before Wednesday's game against the Seahawks, scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m.

UCF was slated to honor the trio but due to the events on Tuesday, the event was moved to Wednesday.

Bergman became just the 17th coach in Division I history to reach the 1,200-win plateau, and just the 22nd at all levels of the NCAA. He is approaching another milestone, needing 16 victories to reach 1,000 wins in his UCF career.

Houck and Hudson posted UCF's first combined no-hitter in school history and just the second overall no-no. They struck out 18 batters in the game en route to their memorable performance.

UCF currently is on a nine-game winning streak heading into tuesday with a 17-1 overall record and a 16-0 mark at home. The Knights have just two home games remaining before they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss., to open Conference USA play against Southern Miss Friday-Sunday.
