SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team fired its second 297 (+9) of the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in final round action to finish in a tie for 11th place in the standings. Sophomore Leigh Crosby (Athens, Ga.) led the Knights with the first top-20 finish of her collegiate career.
Crosby carded her second 71 (-1) of the tournament in her last 18 holes on the Coco Beach Golf Course in San Juan. The 71 equaled her lowest round of her UCF career, matching her score from the opening round, to finish with a three-day total of 222 (+6) and in a tie for 15th.
Freshman Jessy Tang (Miami, Fla.) posted her lowest score of the tournament in final round action, carding a 74 (+2). Tang tied for 60th in the field with a score of 231 (+15).
The remaining trio of Knights, juniors Stephanie Connelly (Pasadena, Md.) and May Tomimbang (Kissimmee, Fla.) along with Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium), all registered scores of 76 (+4) during final-round play as UCF concluded its first tournament of the spring.
Tomko's round was also her lowest of the tournament as she improved her scored with each round of play. Tomimbang was the second Knight on the individual scoreboard, placing in a tie for 34th with a 54-hole total of 226 (+10). Connelly wound up in a tie for 52nd with a 229 (+13).
The Knights return to action when they host the UCF Challenge To Benefit Florida Children's Hospital on March 9-11 at the RedTail Golf Club in Sorrento, Fla.
