Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF softball team looks to avenge its earlier season, 6-1, loss to No. 12 Michigan on Wednesday night at the UCF Softball Complex. The game is set to get underway at 6 p.m.
UCF currently holds a 10-8 record on the season, while Michigan yields an 11-2 overall record.
With the win over UCF on Sunday, the Wolverines claimed first place honors at UCF Tournament.
Javier leads the Knights with a .421 batting average, a .579 slugging percentage and 12 RBI. The junior had recorded at least one hit in 11 of UCF's last 13 games and has totaled eight multiple hits game on the season.
In the squads' last meeting on Sunday night, the Knights nearly pulled off its biggest upset of the season, but fell to the Wolverines, 6-1, at the UCF Softball Complex. The Black and Gold held the Michigan squad scoreless through the first seven innings, before giving up six runs in the top of the eighth.
Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif.) led the Black and Gold at the plate with a hit and a RBI, while three additional Knights posted a hit in the contest.
UCF had opportunities to score in the later innings, loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning with no outs, and, following a Javier single to score Tiffany Lane (Moreno Valley, Calif.), loaded the bases again in the eighth. Overall, the Knights stranded 11 runners on base.
