Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - After returning home Monday from the Hawaii Paradise Classic, the UCF softball team quickly hits the road again for a pair of mid-week games Wednesday and Thursday. The Knights will face Stetson at 5 p.m. Wednesday, before heading to Bethune-Cookman for a 3:30 p.m. match-up on Thursday.

Previewing Stetson
The Hatters host the Knights with a 6-4 record on the season, recording wins over Detroit, Marist, the College of Charleston and East Tennessee State, while dropping contests to Ohio State, North Carolina and in-state rival Florida.

Stetson is led at the plate by Lindsay Wightman with a .407 batting average, three doubles, a .630 slugging percentage and seven walks. In the circle, Amanda Lindsey holds a 3-3 record and a 1.30 ERA in 37.2 innings of work, posting two shutouts and 35 strikeouts. The Knights are 9-5 all-time versus the Hatters.

Previewing Bethune-Cookman
The Wildcats are still looking for their first win of the season, posting a 0-9 record through their first nine games. BCU has faced stiff competition early in its schedule, dropping games to teams such as Florida, Illinois, USF, Michigan State and Florida State.

Taryn Hernandez leads the Wildcats with a .357 batting average, posting five hits on the season. Hernandez also paces her team with a .357 slugging percentage and a .438 on-base percentage. Allison Garcia has seen the most innings for the BCU pitching staff with 33.0 innings pitched. The freshman has totaled 21 strikeouts and a 7.64 ERA in five starts. The Knights are 10-4 all-time vs. the Wildcats.

Just Another Day in Paradise
Breanne Javier was almost unstoppable at the plate for UCF in the Hawaii tournament. She batted .565, going 13-for-23 in the seven-game event. The first baseman recorded at least one hit in all seven of the Knights' contests in the Aloha State, including a 3-for-3 performance with a solo home run in the game against Long Beach State and a 3-for-4 performance against Kentucky both on Feb. 16. Javier had four multiple hit games during the week and totaled four RBI, a .739 slugging percentage and a .560 on-base percentage.

First Round-Tripper is a Big One
Freshman shortstop Tiffany Lane (Moreno Valley, Calif.) hit a three-run walk-off home run in the 10th inning to lift the UCF softball team to a 5-3 victory over Long Beach State Friday afternoon at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Statdium. The home run was the first of Lane's career and was the first for the Knights in 2008.

Tropical Home Run Showers
There must have been something in the water in Hawaii, as the Knights combined for six home runs during the four-day Hawaii Paradise Classic last weekend. Lane's home run in the 10th inning to win the game against Long Beach State ignited the UCF bats as four additional players went yard in the tournament. Lindsay Dean led the Knights with two home runs over the weekend, a pair of solo shots against Kentucky, while Cat Snapp, Breanne Javier and Allison Kime also recorded home runs during the event.
