HATTIESBURG, Miss. (www.ucfathletics.com) - A day after facing host Sam Houston State, the Knights left Texas on Sunday and headed east to Mississippi. UCF opens Conference USA play on Tuesday against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.

The team left Houston on Sunday morning and flew into New Orleans. The football national title game is set for Monday evening in the Crescent City and several boisterous LSU fans were on the Knights' flight.

The Knights practiced at Reed Green Coliseum on Sunday evening and closed the practice by shooting free throws.

One player who has been reliable at the free-throw line is senior guard Dave Noel (Boynton Beach, Fla./Boynton Beach). This season, he ranks eighth in C-USA in the category, shooting 82.7 percent from the charity stripe.

Noel began the season by making just 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) of his attempts in the squad's first six games of the year. In UCF's last eight games, he is 32-of-35 (91.4 percent) at the line.

Tuesday's game against the Golden Eagles will be televised live regionally on CSS. The contest is slated to begin at 9 p.m. Eastern.

UCF's next home game is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. against Tulsa. The contest will serve as the first C-USA game at the new UCF Arena.

Notes: In two games against Southern Miss, senior guard Mike O'Donnell (Largo, Fla./Largo) is averaging 17.5 points... O'Donnell currently ranks second in the conference in steals per game (1.8)... The game at Southern Miss will serve as the Knights' sixth televised contest of the season.
