Men's Tennis Wraps Up Day Two at USF Spring Classic

TAMPA, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team wrapped up its second day at the USF Spring Classic. Junior Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) won his second-straight singles match of the tournament.

Ben Soltane breezed past No. 35 Virginia Tech's Eduardo Pinto, 6-2, 6-0.

In Flight B singles competition, freshman Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) fell in Flight B to Virginia Tech's Yoann Re, 6-0, 6-3. Senior Sinan Sudas (Adana, Turkey) is tied with the Hokies' Brandon Corace at one set apiece. Sudas and Corace will conclude the match Sunday morning.

Sophomore Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) and senior Nikolas Overkemping (Bonn, Germany) both played in Flight A. Overkemping lost 7-6, 6-2 to Virginia Tech's Albert Larregola, 7-6, 6-2.

Junior Danny Colon (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood), who is competing in Flight D against the Hokies' Preston Lemon, won the first set 6-4, lost the second set 3-6 and is tied in the third, 1-1. The two will finish the third set on Sunday morning.

The Knights will play all doubles matches tomorrow and then take on Auburn later in the day to conclude the tournament.

UCF opens its dual-match schedule against Rice on Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex.

Brandon Corace (VT) and Sinan Sudas (UCF) currently tied one set apiece, will continue third set Sunday morning.

Sebastian Jacques (VT) def. Brock Sakey (UCF), 6-1, 6-4
Ignaci Roca (VT) def. Blaze Schwartz (UCF), 6-4, 7-5
Tarek Ben Soltane (UCF) def. Eduardo Pinto (VT), 6-2, 6-0

Flight D Singles
