UCF Fastbreak - Dec. 23

Dec. 23, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Junior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla./Tavares) received most of the media attention following UCF's game at Nevada on Dec. 16 and it was well deserved. Taylor poured in a career-high 27 points against the Wolf Pack.

Another UCF player had a career day at Nevada as senior guard Dave Noel (Boynton Beach, Fla./Boynton Beach) continued to prove that he is more than a defensive stopper. He recorded 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor. He made 6-of-7 attempts at the charity stripe.

Most of Noel's baskets came on drives inside the paint, which impressed UCF head coach Kirk Speraw.

"Dave is attacking the basket," Speraw said. "He has tremendous driving ability."

Noel ranks second on the squad, averaging 12.7 points per game. He is shooting 51.7 percent from the floor in 2007-08.

UCF has not played since facing the Wolf Pack and will return to action Friday at home against traditional power Connecticut. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. as the game will be aired live nationally on CSTV.

The Connecticut game is part of a special holiday ticket package that the UCF Athletics Association is currently offering.

For $25, fans will receive tickets to the Connecticut contest and for both of UCF's games at the UCF Holiday Classic (Dec. 30-31). The holiday package provides fans with a $10 discount as tickets to these three contests usually cost $35.

Fans should call 407-UCF-1000 to purchase the ticket package.

Notes: When UCF faces Connecticut, it will mark the team's third contest with a BIG EAST program this year. UCF has already met Villanova and USF... The Knights have not hosted a BIG EAST program in Orlando since 2002, when they played Miami at the old UCF Arena. The Hurricanes were a member of the league at that time.
