ORLANDO Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team will acknowledge its three seniors Friday before the 2007 season comes to a close Friday vs. Marshall at the UCF Soccer Complex. Philip Michael Hall (Clermont, Fla.), James Georgeff (New Castle, Australia) and Brian Pope (Durham, N.H.) all will be playing in their final home game when the Knights battle the Thundering Herd at 7 p.m.
UCF is coming off a 0-0 tie with South Carolina Nov. 4, and currently owns a 4-11-2 overall record and a 0-5-2 mark in Conference USA. The Knights have a 2-2-1 all-time record against Marshall, including a 4-2 win in last year's meeting.
Leading the way for the Black and Gold, Ryan Roushandel has notched eight goals for 16 points on the year, highlighted by three game-winners. He also has taken a team-high 55 shots, including 23 on goal. Mike Mattson (5-3--13) and Georgeff (4-2--10) also have double-digit point totals for the Knights.
In net, freshman Sean Johnson has played all 1579:00 minutes, posting a 2.11 goals-against average and 80 saves. Johnson's last performance was a 10-save effort vs. USC, which helped him secure his second shutout of 2007.
Marshall, meanwhile, stands at 8-8-1 this year with a 2-5-0 conference mark. The Thundering Herd are also 3-2-1 on the road, but have lost their last three outings, including a 3-1 affair at South Carolina. For the season, Marshall has posted wins over James Madison, Centenary, Xavier, Western Kentucky, Ohio Valley, FIU, Florida Atlantic and UAB.
Offensively, Kolby LaCrone leads the team with six goals and 13 points. Avneet Shergill and John Daniele are second for Marshall with four goals apiece. On the defensive side, the Herd has used three netminders, with Craig Ratanamorn (6-4-1) and Brad Kennedy (2-4-0) seeing the majority of the action.
