ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Saturday's contest at USF in Tampa will serve as a homecoming for UCF senior guard Mike O'Donnell (Largo, Fla./Largo). O'Donnell was raised in Largo, which is located in Pinellas County.
O'Donnell said that he expects between 30-40 family members and friends to attend the 7 p.m. game at the Sun Dome. His homecoming created some extra attention earlier in the week as the Tampa Tribune ran an interview with O'Donnell on Monday.
UCF and the Bulls will be meeting on the hardwood for the first time since 2002. The school's football programs have met in each of the last three seasons.
O'Donnell is one of two Knights from the Tampa-area. Sophomore forward A.J. Tyler (Palm Harbor, Fla./Palm Harbor University) is from Palm Harbor. Tyler is sitting out the 2007-08 campaign after transferring from Clemson.
Sophomore forward Tony Davis (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) also hails from the western part of the state and expects a large contingent of family and friends at the game.
UCF's next home game is slated for Saturday, Dec. 8 versus Ole Miss. Season tickets for the team's inaugural campaign at the new UCF Arena are still available by calling 407-UCF-1000.
Single-game tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and at the UCFAA box office at Bright House Networks Stadium.
Notes: The contest at USF will serve as the Knights' first road true road game of the season... The Bulls are the only in-state program that UCF will play this year... The Knights' are scheduled to practice on Thursday afternoon at the new UCF Arena. On Friday night, the team will practice at the Sun Dome in Tampa.
