Roushandel, McCarty Earn C-USA Men's Soccer Postseason Awards

Nov. 13, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF's men's soccer team picked up a pair of Conference USA postseason accolades Tuesday, announced by the league office. Junior Ryan Roushandel (Atlanta, Ga.) nabbed a spot on the All-C-USA Second Team, while Dustin McCarty (Maitland, Fla.) was selected to the C-USA All-Freshman Team.

Roushandel's honor marked the second-straight season UCF (4-12-2) placed a student-athlete on one of the C-USA postseason teams, and McCarty became the fourth different Knight in the past three seasons to be voted onto the All-Freshman Team.

For Roushandel, he finished the year as the team's leading goal scorer with eight tallies. He also added one assist for 17 total points. In all, three of his eight goals were game-winners as he placed 23 of his 57 shots on goal. The Atlanta native scored twice against Cincinnati Sept. 7 and at Florida International Oct. 10, while he hit the back of the net in three-straight games from Sept. 17-23.

McCarty started 15 of 17 matches during his first campaign with the Knights. The native of Maitland, Fla., tied for fifth on the team with three points off a goal and an assist, and racked up 22 shots in 2007. He registered his first collegiate point on a helper vs. Stetson Sept. 12, then scored an unassisted goal at Memphis two days later.
