ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF fans are invited to the new UCF Arena on Thursday evening for the 2007-08 UCF Men's and Women's Basketball Tip-Off Celebration. Admission is free to the event, which begins at 7 p.m. inside the state-of-the-art arena.
UCF men's head coach Kirk Speraw and women's head coach Joi Williams will be on hand to talk about the upcoming season. The 2007-08 campaign will serve as the Knights' first inside the new arena.
In addition to the coaches, players from both teams will be in attendance to sign autographs. Members of the Marching Knights and the UCF cheerleading and dance squads will also be at the event.
Speraw's team went 22-9 last season and finished second in Conference USA. The Knights return nine letterwinners and three starters from a year ago. The team opens the regular-season campaign at home against Nevada on Sunday.
Williams was hired as UCF's head coach in the spring. Her team features 11 newcomers. The women's squad is set to make its regular-season debut at home on Friday against Texas Tech.
Refreshments will be served at the event. Parking is available in Garage F (behind the old arena) for $5.
