Tuscaloosa, Ala. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team placed 12th in the team standings at the UA-Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate on Sunday as the three-day event came to a close on the NorthRiver Golf Club. The Knights posted a final round score of 317 (+33) to finish the tournament with a team score of 920 (+68).
Arkansas, who entered the day with a one-stroke lead on Louisville, pulled away in the final round to claim the team title by eight strokes over Auburn (894, +42). The Razorbacks finished with a team score 886 (+34) thanks in large part to senior Stacy Lewis, who took medalist honors with an even-par score of 213.
Junior May Tomimbang (Kissimmee, Fla./Gateway) was the top individual finisher for the Knights, tying for 19th (225, +12). Tomimbang closed the tournament with a 75 (+4), which was the low round of the day for the Knights. Sophomore Sara Hurwitch (Potomac Falls, Va./Dominion) turned in her best score of the event in the final round with a 78 (+7).
Freshman Jessy Tang (Miami, Fla./Olympia) tied for 28th in the individual standings with a three-day total of 227 (+14). Tang opened the tournament with rounds of 72 and 73.
Sophomore Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium/Bradenton Academy) carded in 81 (+10) in her final round to tie for 61st. Sophomore Leigh Crosby (Athens, Ga./Oconee) concluded the three-day tournament in a tie for 75th with a total score of 239 (+26).
The Knights closed out their fall season with the tournament in Tuscaloosa. The team's spring season begins on Feb. 24-26 at the Puerto Rico Lady Classic.
