UCF Joining Classic Mazda to Promote Hoops

Oct. 26, 2007

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Black and gold will be prevalent at Classic Mazda on Semoran Boulevard on Saturday as members of the UCF cheerleading and dance teams will be on hand at the dealership promoting the upcoming basketball season. The UCF Athletics Association and Classic Mazda are partnering with XL 106.7 for a live radio remote from 3-5 p.m.

The UCF edition Mazda CX-9, which one men's basketball season ticket holder will win in November, will be on display. XL 106.7 will be broadcasting live on location and members of the UCF spirit squad and Knightro will be in attendance signing autographs.

UCF opens the 2007-08 men's basketball campaign on Nov. 11, hosting Nevada at the new UCF Arena. Head coach Kirk Speraw's Knights will play 16 regular-season contests at the 10,000-seat facility. In addition to Nevada, Connecticut and Ole Miss are slated to visit Orlando this year.

A year ago, UCF went 22-9 and finished second in Conference USA. Following the regular season, Speraw was named the league's coach of the year.

On Saturday at Classic Mazda, complimentary pizza will be provided by the UCF Dominos. Special UCF prizes will be distributed and members of the ticket sales staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the upcoming season. Classic Mazda is located on 2075 North Semoran Boulevard in Orlando.

Classic Mazda is the presenting sponsor of this year's season-ticket drive. UCF fans that purchase two season tickets will be entered into a drawing to win the special-edition Mazda CX-9.

"We are very happy to be involved with UCF athletics at this exciting time," said Classic Mazda general manager Chad Rogers. "Classic Mazda is proud to be affiliated with UCF and its students, alumni and fans."

The winner of the CX-9 will be selected and announced on Nov. 24 during the UCF-UTEP football game at Bright House Networks Stadium.

Dating back to the start of the 2002-03 campaign, the Knights have won 106 games, a mark that ranks 31st nationally and second among all programs in the state of Florida. The Knights return three starters and nine letterwinners from last year's team.

Season tickets for the Knights' first season at the new UCF Arena are currently available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000.
