UCF to Make Five National TV Appearances in 2007-08

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's basketball team will make five national television appearances during the 2007-08 campaign, Conference USA announced on Thursday. Three of the Knights games will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks and two will be shown nationwide on CSTV.

Overall, seven UCF contests will be televised during the regular season as the Knights are also slated to make a pair of regional appearances on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS).

The Knights are slated to compete at the Old Spice Classic at Disney's Wide World of Sports in November in nearby Lake Buena Vista and all three of their games at the event will be televised nationally. UCF's game against Villanova on Thanksgiving will be shown on ESPN2. The Knights' games on Nov. 23 and Nov. 25 will be aired across the country on ESPN2 or ESPNU.

CSTV will air the Dec. 28 UCF-Connecticut game live from the new UCF Arena. The Knights are entering their first campaign inside the 10,000-seat venue. Tip-off for the contest is set for 8 p.m.

When Ole Miss visits the Knights on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m., CSS will broadcast the game throughout the southeast.

Two of UCF's league road games will also be aired. UCF at Memphis on Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. will be televised on CSTV. The Knights' C-USA opener at Southern Miss will be shown on CSS on Jan. 8 at 8 p.m.

Last season, the Knights made three national appearances on CSTV. Six games overall were shown on television.

Head coach Kirk Speraw's squad will play 16 regular-season contests at the new UCF Arena. The team opens the year on Nov. 11, hosting Nevada.

The Knights went 22-9 overall last year and finished second in C-USA. Following the regular season, Speraw was named the league's coach of the year.
