ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) -Junior midfielder Ryan Roushandel (Atlanta, Ga./Marist School) was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Men's College Team of the Week on Tuesday after helping the UCF men's soccer team claim the UCF Fall Classic title over the weekend. Roushandel scored a pair of game-winning goals as the Knights beat the College of Charleston, 3-2, then defeated Wofford College, 2-1.
"Ryan has been playing extremely well for us," said UCF head coach Bryan Cunningham, who is in his first season at the helm of the program. "Not only is he scoring goals but he is also providing us with tremendous leadership on the field."
Roushandel, who transferred to UCF from Clemson prior to the 2006 season, currently leads all Conference USA players with 33 shots and is tied for first with three game-winning tallies. He is also tied for second in the league with five goals.
Earlier this season, Roushandel led UCF to the TLC Plumbing and Utility Invitational crown in New Mexico, earning a spot on the all-tournament team after recording a pair of goals against Cincinnati.
Roushandel and the Knights return to action when they visit No. 11 Saint Louis on Saturday, Sept. 29. UCF's next home match is against Charlotte on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
