ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's basketball head coach Kirk Speraw announced his team's 2007-08 Conference USA schedule on Wednesday and the Knights will play eight league games at the new UCF Arena this season. UCF opens the league slate on Jan. 8 at Southern Miss and makes its C-USA debut at the new 10,000-seat facility on Jan. 12 versus Tulsa.

Speraw's team will play 16 total regular season contests at home in 2007-08.

The Knights are entering their third season in C-USA. A year ago, the squad went 22-9 overall and 11-5 against league foes, good for second in the conference. Following the regular season, Speraw was named the C-USA Coach of the Year.

For the second-consecutive season, UCF will face East Carolina, Houston, Marshall, Rice and Tulsa twice in league play. On Feb. 9, the Knights will play at Memphis, a team that could start the year ranked first nationally.

"Conference USA is much improved from last year. From top to bottom, each program has made great strides," said Speraw. "Every game is going to be a challenge."

Besides Tulsa, UCF will also host UTEP, UAB, Houston, Marshall, East Carolina, Tulane and Rice for league games.

The Knights have one three-game homestand during C-USA play. The squad hosts UAB on Jan. 30, then plays Houston (Feb. 2) and Marshall (Feb. 6). UCF concludes the regular season on the road, facing Houston on March 5 and Tulsa three days later. The C-USA Championship begins on March 12 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis.

The Knights begin the regular season at home on Nov. 11, hosting Nevada. UCF will play eight home non-league contests. In addition to the Wolf Pack, Connecticut and Ole Miss will face the Knights at the new facility.

Speraw's team is slated to compete in the Old Spice Classic at Walt Disney World in nearby Lake Buena Vista from Nov. 22-25. The Knights will meet Villanova on Thanksgiving Day at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 in their first game at the event.

Prior to opening the campaign, the Knights will play a pair of exhibition games at home. On Nov. 3, UCF will host St. Leo at 11 a.m. Following the game, the UCF football squad will play Marshall at Bright House Networks Stadium. In their final preseason contest, the Knights are slated to meet Florida Southern on Nov. 6.

UCF will return three starters and nine letterwinners from last season's team. Dating back to the start of the 2002-03 campaign, the Knights have won 106 games, a mark that ranks 31st nationally and second among all programs in the state of Florida.

Season tickets for the Knights' first season at the new UCF Arena are currently available and can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000.
