CAMDEN, N.J. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - After facing some of the nation's top crews in two separate races on Friday, the No. 6 UCF lightweight eight moved into the petite final at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship. The Knights are slated to take on Loyola Marymount, Ohio State, MIT, Long Beach and Lehigh on the Cooper River Saturday afternoon.
Featuring coxswain Tori Ryan, Lauren Schueler, Michelle Carter, Megan Mitchell, Taylor Wiatt, Morgan Bell, Kathleen Noble, Kathryn Harness and Celeste Brown, the UCF crew opened the day with a fifth place showing in the second of two morning heats.
In the afternoon's repechage, the Knights improved their time on the course by 13 seconds, going 6:59.78 for third place.
Only the top two finishers from each of the heats and the winner of each of the two repechages earn spots in Saturday's grand final. All other teams go to the petite final.
