Spring Football: Day Eleven's Quick Question

April 6, 2007

Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Following each spring football practice, a general question will be asked of a selected group of Golden Knights. Today's question was asked to some defensive players:

How would you rate the offense's performance this spring?

Leger Douzable
#91 Senior Defensive Tackle
"Both sides are doing pretty good. The offense is working hard. We have some injuries like Shane Smith and Kevin Smith but they are getting in there when they can. I think they are working pretty well. I like a couple of the freshman wide receivers that are stepping up. Overall it is going good."

Blake Carter
#10 Senior Linebacker
"I think the offense is making a lot of improvements right now. Certain key guys can't go full strength, like Kevin Smith and Shane Smith but I think they are looking pretty good. They have a lot of young guys. With Mike Walker leaving you have to have some guys step up. I think they are looking pretty good overall."

Chance Henderson
#54 Sophomore Linebacker
"I think the offense is going well. They still have a lot of things that need to be put into place and so does the defense but overall I think that things are going well on both sides of the ball."

Sha'reff Rashad
#29 Junior Defensive Back
"I think they are doing really good. A lot of the people are growing, like a lot of articles are saying. We lost Mike Walker last year and he was a big part of the team but I think a lot of the receivers are doing a good job with stepping up and trying to replace him. The running backs are doing well. Coach Kelly is doing a real good job with the receivers. The quarterbacks are doing well. The offense, as a whole is looking good. The better they are the better it is for the defense. The better the defense is the better it is for the offense. I think they are doing a really good job of making us better and we are trying our best to make them better as well."

Cory Hogue
#59 Junior Linebacker
"I think they have been doing really well. There are a few injuries here and there. They don't have Kevin (Smith) in there going full-go and Shane (Smith) is still not at full-go. Other than that they are doing well. Kyle Israel has really stepped up to the starting role and everything else seems to be moving right along."
