UCF Caps Longhorn Invitational with Sweep of Texas

AUSTIN, Texas (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's rowing team concluded competition at the Longhorn Invitational by defeating host Texas in all four races on Sunday morning.

The Golden Knights started the third day of racing by edging the Longhorns in the novice eight by two-tenths of a second then recorded a winning time of 8:02.6 in the varsity four, beating the host by 21 seconds.

UCF's second varsity eight went 7:05.3 to emerge as the victor in its event before the first varsity eight, featuring sophomore Katie Chapman (St. Catharines, Ontario/St. Francis Secondary) at coxswain, best the Longhorns to complete the sweep. The Golden Knights posted a time of 6:56.2, while Texas went 7:08.8.

Overall, UCF took home victories in 12 of the 14 races during the regatta, including three against Duke.

The Golden Knights returns to water when they host the Petrakis Cup on March 24.
