Throwers, Distance Medley Pace UCF At Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Miami's Virginia Traynor (Westminster Christian HS) placed fourth and Winter Garden's LaKendra Thames (West Orange HS) took seventh in the shot put as the UCF women's track and field team competed in the first day of the Clemson Tiger Invitational on Friday evening.

Traynor recorded a season-best mark of 42-feet, 9.75 inches in the event, while Thames had a toss of 41-10.75. Orlando's Jessica Francis (Boone HS) threw a 40-4.0 in the preliminaries, which didn't qualify her for the finals.

Also in the field events, sophomore Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla./Raines HS) earned seventh place in the long jump with a season-best leap of 18-10.75.

The distance medley relay team, which featured seniors Karen Kozub and Jenny Rogan, freshman Carley Dart and sophomore Jamie Rzepecki, claimed second place with a time of 12:23.52.

Freshman Feyisara Adaramola (Bronx, N.Y./Trevor Day School) qualified for Saturday's 60m dash finals after recording a time of 7.70 in her preliminary heat.

The Golden Knights continue competition at Clemson on Saturday before traveling to Houston, Texas for the 2007 C-USA Indoor Championship from Feb. 23-24.
