Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team finished in 12th-place at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan after carding its best round of the three-day tournament on Sunday. The Golden Knights turned in a score of 308 (+20) at the Coco Beach Golf and Country Club with sophomore Stephanie Connelly (Pasadena, Md./Ohio State) posting an even-par 72.
Connelly's 72 equaled the best round of the tournament by a Golden Knight golfer as Annabel Silk (West Meon, England/Millfield) also turned in that score on day one of the event. Connelly moved up to 32nd in the individual standings, while senior Lauren Motyl (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) was second on that among UCF golfers after shooting a 76 (+4) in round three to place in a tie for 52nd.
Auburn won the team competition with a final three-round total of 873 (+9). Five golfers finished at the top of leaderboard with total scores of 217 (+1). Jenny Suh of Alabama had the best final round of the fivesome, posting a 71 (-1).
Freshman Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium/Bradenton Academy) improved her score each day, including a 78 (+6) in the final round after posting an 81 and 80, respectively in the opening two rounds.
