Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF softball team posted a pair of shutouts on day two of the UCF Tournament on Saturday, blanking George Mason, 4-0 and run-ruling Alabama State, 9-0 in five innings. The Golden Knights improved to 10-6 on the season with the two wins.

In game one, senior Kacie Feaster (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian Academy) recorded three hits and scored three runs, while freshman Ashleigh Cole (Pace, Fla./Pace) tossed a six-hit shutout to lead UCF to the victory.

Feaster went 3-for-4 at the plate and saw a streak of seven-consecutive trips to plate with a base hit come to an end on her final at-bat. Feaster had six singles and a home run during the stretch that vaulted her batting average to .391 for the season.

The centerfielder scored the first three runs of the game in the first, third and fifth innings, respectively, after she led off each of those frames with a single. Feaster scored on an error by the Patriots in the first, a sacrifice fly by Allison Kime (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough C.C.) in the third and a single by Cole in the fifth.

Cole, who had two hits at the plate, struck out five Patriots and did not allow a walk in her second shutout of the season. The righthander improved to 3-3 on the season.

The Knights tacked on an insurance run in the seventh when Amber Lamb (West Palm Beach, Fla./John I. Leonard) scored an unearned run on an error by George Mason catcher Lesley Hassen.

Leftfielder Megan Murphy (Port Orange, Fla./Daytona Beach C.C.) had two hits in her first start of the season. Arielle Wynkofsky took the loss allowing three runs on six hits in five innings of work. Shortstop Kelsey Mack led the Patriots with two hits.

In game two, the Knights grabbed a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning, posting four consecutive two-out hits in the frame. UCF then added four more runs in the fifth to secure the nine-run lead.

Sophomore Magon Paul (Virginia Beach, Va./Kellam) did not need much help from the circle as the righthander recorded the first shutout of her career. She allowed four hits in the five-inning affair to pick up her first win of the season.

Murphy had a two-run single in the fourth to start the scoring. First baseman Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif./Valencia) added a RBI double, while Cat Snapp (Niceville, Fla./Niceville) scored her on a single through the left side. Junior Ashley Van Ryn (Atlanta, Ga./Greater Atlanta Christian) then capped the scoring with a RBI single through the box.

In the fifth, Lamb laced a RBI single down the leftfield line for the first run. Third baseman Cici Alvarez (Pembroke Pines, Fla./McArthur) scored after a long run down between third and home. Murphy recorded her third RBI of the game on a fielder's choice and Snapp collected her second RBI with a single.

Lamb and Snapp each had two hits in the game, while Alabama State leftfielder April O'Neil also had two hits for the visiting Hornets. Destiny Sanchez took the loss, falling to 2-4 on the season.

The Knights will conclude the UCF Tournament on Sunday with a single game against Villanova at 1 p.m. UCF has a chance to win the six-team event with a victory over the Wildcats, who are currently 4-0 in tournament play this weekend. Action at the UCF Softball Complex gets underway at 9 a.m. with a match-up between Boston and Albany.
