Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Senior Lauren Motyl (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) turned in the top round of the day for the UCF women's golf team at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Saturday, but the team dropped a spot in the team standings to 13th overall.
Motyl shot a 75 (+3), an improvement of nine strokes from round one, to lead the Golden Knights' effort on the Coco Beach Golf and Country Club in San Juan, Puerto Rico. UCF has a two-round total of 621 (310-311, + 45).
Auburn grabbed the lead after round two in the team standings by posting a 284 (-4). The Tigers are at even-par for the tournament (292-284, E) and lead Oklahoma State by five strokes.
Sophomore Stephanie Connelly (Pasadena, Md./Ohio State) is the top individual over two rounds with a total of 154 (75-79, +10). Connelly is tied for 42nd in the field. Auburn's Mariana Macias and Oklahoma State's Pernilla Lindberg lead the individuals with four-under totals of 140 (-4).
UCF senior Kristy McGlaughlin (Wasage Beach, Ontario/Collingwood Collegiate Institute) joined Motyl with better round-two scores, improving five strokes with a 77 (82-77, +15). Freshman Victoria Tomko (Lontzen, Belgium/Bradenton Academy) carded an 80, a one-shot improvement from her first round.
