Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - TCU's pitching staff proved once again tough to handle as the UCF baseball team suffered a 12-1 loss Saturday at Jay Bergman Field. The Golden Knights dropped to 1-3 on the season, while the No. 15 Horned Frogs improved to 2-0.
TCU starter Chance Corgan (1-0) picked up the victory by going 5.2 innings and striking out eight. Its bullpen allowed only one hit in the final 3.1 frames. Brian Brooks received the loss by giving up three earned runs in 3.0 innings of work.
Some defensive miscues by UCF helped TCU storm out to a big lead for the second-straight evening. After the Horned Frogs posted three runs in the top of the first, they tallied an unearned run in the second and two more unearned runs in the third. TCU then used four hits and an error to stretch the lead to 11-0 after four innings.
Corgan did allow UCF to put its lead-off hitter aboard in three of the first four innings, but Corgan kept his composure and kept the Golden Knights scoreless until the sixth. That was when pinch-hitter Ryan Williams connected on a 3-2 pitch with one out, sending it beyond the fence in left field. It was Williams' second career dinger and the first homer of the season for UCF.
TCU came right back in the top of the seventh with a run on a wild pitch, which proved to be the final run of the game.

- Ryan Williams' solo homer in the sixth was the first UCF pinch-hit home run since Drake Wade's shot against LSU Feb. 15, 2004.
- In the last two games, UCF has given up 22 runs on 26 hits, while committing eight errors.
- Derek Abriola came out of the pen and went 3.1 innings, striking out five and surrendering one run.
