BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Led by solid efforts in the long jump, pole vault and sprints, the UCF women's track and field team earned top finishes as the Golden Knights concluded competition at the Gladstein Invitational at Indiana University on Saturday.
In the long jump, sophomore Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla./Raines HS) earned a mark of 18-feet, two inches for sixth place, while freshman Ricki Sullivan (Santa Cruz, Calif./Harbor HS) took eighth with a leap of 17-8.75.
Meanwhile, senior Katie Fowke (Tampa, Fla./Riverview HS) was seventh in the pole vault at 11-0.
On the track, freshman Feyisara Adaramola (Bronx, N.Y./Trevor Day School) took fifth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.73 seconds before finishing sixth in the 200m dash at 25.23. Her time in the 60m was a freshman record and ranks second all-time at UCF, while her time in the 200m established a new school indoor record.
Both of UCF's throwers bettered their marks in the weight throw. Freshman LaKendra Thames (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange HS) broke the school's indoor record with a toss of 49-11.75, while junior Virginia Traynor (Miami, Fla./Westminster Christian HS) earned a mark of 47-3.75.
Friday's pentathlon results also became available. Sophomore Sheree Carter (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby HS) finished fifth with a personal best of 3,366 points, an effort that ranks second all-time at UCF. In her multi-event debut, sophomore Natalie Braddock (Callahan, Fla./West Nassau HS) collected 2,749 points and junior Tia Harwood (Wyandach, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills East HS) had 2,687 points.
