Women's Track and Field Athletes Place at the Gladstein Invitational

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Members of the UCF women's track and field team earned five top ten showings in the opening day of competition at the Gladstein Invitational at Indiana University on Friday.

Racing to fourth place in the 60m hurdles, junior Victoria Chin (Orlando, Fla./Oak Ridge HS) recorded a time of 9.00 seconds. Elsewhere on the track, senior Jenny Rogan (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island HS) earned her best time of the young indoor season in the 400m, clocking a time of 59.25.

In the triple jump, sophomore Dione Thomas (Jacksonville, Fla./Raines HS) was fifth with a leap of 38-feet, while freshman Ricki Sullivan (Santa Cruz, Calif./Harbor HS) followed in seventh place at 37-2.

Freshmen also performed well in other events as rookie Katorie Stinney (Rockledge HS) was fifth in the high jump and classmate LaKendra Thames (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange HS) took 10th in the shot put.

Although scores and rankings were unavailable in the pentathlon, sophomore Sheree Carter (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby HS) led UCF's trio in all five events, including a second-place finish in the long jump.

The Golden Knights continue competition at the Gladstein Invitational on Saturday, while UCF's middle distance and distance athletes race at the Diet Pepsi Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.
